Asaduddin Owaisi says no to Osmania General Hospital demolition
Hyderabad: The Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has opposed the demolition of the old building of the Osmania General Hospital.
MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said, “We are against demolition of the building as it is a heritage building, not only for Hyderabad but also the entire country.”
Mr Owaisi, the Hyderabad MP, said seven acres of vacant land is available for construction of new buildings for the hospital and the government must examine the alternatives.
“We are restoring the Quli Qutub Shahi tombs which are more than four centuries old. The OGH which is not even a century old can be similarly restored,” Mr Owaisi said.
He stated that he would demand that the TRS government to look into the conservation options and not to demolish the heritage building.
