Have you tried a shot of the best?

Notes of vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut make this $50 tequila the perfect addition

With July being the month of tequila (National Tequila Day was celebrated just last week in the US), this is also the time when — apart from recipes for tequila cocktails aplenty — you see annual lists of the “best tequila” being released. Collating reviews from prestigious global spirits competitions and respected tipple magazines, FindTheBest and Business Insider have put out a list of the top-15 tequilas in the world, which won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

And making it to the top five spots, are:-

The Alquimia Reserva de Don Adolfo Extra Anejo Tequila: An ultra-aged fruit flavoured spirit that is made from organic agave. At $125 a bottle, this amber spirit is a bit pricey, but its cinnamon-herb-spice notes make it well worth the price.

Casa Noble Single Barrel Extra Anejo Tequila: This one is sure to call out to all chocolate lovers! Notes of vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut make this $50 tequila the perfect addition to hot drinks like chocolate or cocoa.

Chinaco Reposado Tequila: This spirit is aged in white oak barrels over a period of 11 months, and the woody note is complemented perfectly by this tequila’s spicy aftertaste. An element of citrus makes this one a refreshing treat.

AsomBroso Anejo Tequila: This is an expensive spirit indeed (it costs $240 a bottle), but once again, price isn’t a consideration when faced with its quality. Aged for 60 months, this tequila builds on hints of honey and vanilla to great effect.

The X.Q. Anejo Tequila: This is known as much for its distinctive X-shaped bottle as it is for its reddish golden hue and unique toffee-jalapeno aromas.
