Moon show to adorn Regional Science Centre and Planetarium soon

Show to depict brief flashback of different human landing missions on moon

Kozhikode: Realm of Light, the digital show at the Regional Science Centre and Planetarium (RSC&P) has enlightened science buffs for over two years with many thousands watching the show. The RSC will be switching over to a new show ‘Going Back to Moon- for Good’ soon. The 23-minute show depicts a brief flashback on different human landing missions on the moon and gives details of a new challenging contest with maximum public sponsorship, for future missions to the moon. The show will be launched once the Malayalam commentary is ready.

‘Realm of Light’ was a 24-minute show which tells in breathtaking pictures the story of the genesis and the evolution of the universe and our world - from the Big Bang until today. Realm of Light is a philosophical approach to the origins of space and our life and is entirely 3-D animated full dome production. “After we launched it in 2013, more than three lakh people watched the show. Since the population here is not like the floating population as in big cities, it is now time to refresh their experience,” said RSC Director V.S Ramachandran.

RSC Technical Officer Jayant Ganguly said that the RSC is also in the process of developing a new planetarium show titled ‘Mars - The red planet.’ “This particular show will be a hybrid show and the same is conceptualised and developed by us. We will be releasing it during October. It will deal with an introduction to Mars, various missions to Mars and India’s Mangalyaan (MOM) mission.
