Telangana ministers wage poster war to promote sons
Hyderabad: Two fathers, both ministers, are hell bent on promoting their sons and a poster war has ensued ahead of the Ujjaini Mahankali Jatara in Secunderabad. The two ministers are T. Padma Rao and T. Srinivas Yadav.
The ministers have put up rows of pink posters and cut-outs along the Rashtrapati Road and lanes leading to the temple. The jatara will be celebrated on Aug. 2 and 3, in the backdrop of the GHMC polls.
Mr Yadav’s posters feature his son Saikiran, who heads the Talasani Yuva Sena, while Mr Padma Rao highlights his son Kiran Goud besides the other children. Mr Padma Rao has six children, four sons and two daughters, while Mr Yadav has a son and a daughter. They were once neighbours.
“Earlier posters used to be that of ‘anna’ (Mr Padma Rao). This time his son has been prominently displayed,” said Dharam Raj, a supporter of Mr Padma Rao. The police has permitted political party leaders to put up posters for the jatara on the main thoroughfares and lanes, but barred them from spoiling the temple environs. However, a couple of posters of the two ministers and M, Shashidhar Reddy are still there.
“This is an unprecedented poster competition between the two. They threatened my supporters to remove our posters. I lodged a complaint with the police and they stopped it,” he said.
