Amid controversy over ads, AAP government's new posters feature Abdul Kalam
New Delhi: The Delhi government on Wednesday put up posters of APJ Abdul Kalam along with his inspirational quotes as tribute to the former President.
The new posters that have been put up outside the Delhi Secretariat mention President Kalam's famous quote "Dream is not the thing you see in sleep, but is that thing that doesn't let you sleep."
The move came a day after the AAP government decided to withdraw an aggressive ad campaign as a mark of respect to President Kalam, who passed away in Shillong on Monday.
The advertisement campaign had targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to allow the Delhi government to function.
"Prime Minister Sir, Please, let Delhi government work," read Delhi government previous posters.
However, the Delhi government has given no timeline when these advertisements would be changed.
On Thursday, the Kejriwal government was censured by the Delhi High Court who said its mega advertising campaign appears to violate new Supreme Court rules that ban politicians from wasting taxpayers' money on promoting their accomplishments.
The judges asked the government to explain how much it has spent on the ads that are running in heavy frequency on television and radio.
