Make MBA globally relevant: IMC

The two-day conclave is based on the theme “Enhancing B-School Competitiveness”
Hyderabad: The Sixth Edition of the Indian Management Conclave (IMC 2015), organised by MBAUniverse.com in partnership with the Indian School of Business, that commenced on Wednesday at ISB here brought together 300 delegates from 100 B-schools to discuss being competitive and relevant in the current global scenario.
The two-day conclave is based on the theme “Enhancing B-School Competitiveness”. The conclave was preceded by the gathering paying homage to Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Sharing his thoughts on the value of management education can bring, Ajit Rangnekar, dean, ISB said that it is for B-Schools to inculcate among their students ‘VEIL’ a sense of values, environment, sensitivity to inequities in society and finally adhering to the law of the land.
Academicians from top B-Schools and industry executives from across the country and abroad, including faculty from Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management, Chicago Booth and Darden; IIM; The CUHK Business School; Graduate School of Business, University Sains Malaysia, are participating. Prominent industry participants include Dilip Sanghvi (Sun Pharma), Avani Davda (Tata Starbucks), Joel Pannikot (Bloomberg), R. S. Sodhi (Amul), Sanjeev Gupta (Accenture) and Sridhar Venkat (Akshaya Patra).
Sangeet Chowfla, global president and CEO, Graduate Management Admission Council spoke about how MBA education is still relevant though it is believed to be otherwise. “Though management education market is expanding but over the last few years it has moved from being purely US centric to including B-Schools from Asia,” he said. The guest of honour, Hemant Kanoria, CMD, Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd. and former member, Board of Governors, IIM - Calcutta said, “Professionals from management schools are not equipped with critical thinking process, which is required to address the challenges faced by different sectors.”
