Chennai: Without a doubt, the spotlight is on Virat Kohli, the player. But it’s not only about him. At the end of the first four-day match between India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’, coach Rahul Dravid said the presence of India’s Test skipper in the playing XI would provide an opportunity for many hopefuls in the team to impress him.
India ‘A’ skipper Cheteshwar Pujara would certainly have heeded the coach’s words. While Kohli would look at the second four-day match between India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’ at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium starting here on Wednesday as an opportunity to get accustomed to the red ball format ahead of the Lanka sojourn, his leader for the match Pujara has his task cutout to prove that he has regained his grinding prowess.
With Rohit Sharma failing to make it big at the No.3 spot in the one-off Test against Bangladesh earlier this month, the contest against the Australians in typical sub-continental conditions is the ideal set-up for the Saurashtra batsman to reclaim his slot for the Lanka series.
