Air India Thiruvananthapuram flight makes emergency landing
Kochi: Passengers on board an Air-India aircraft bound for Thiruvananthapuram via Kochi from Delhi had a harrowing time on Tuesday night when it made an emergency landing at Nagpur airport after one of its engines developed a serious technical snag mid-air.
The 178 passengers were not allowed to move out of the aircraft, which was on an international flight after landing at the domestic airport.
“We were not even informed about what has happened in the beginning,” said Chalakkudy MP Innocent, who was on board the flight.
The snag was of a serious nature and the flight was unable to resume its journey until at the time of filing the report.
An Air-India spokesman said the airline will make arrangements for the passengers if they needed night halt at Nagpur.
The international flight (no 048) took off from Delhi at 6.05 pm. “One hour into the flight, we noticed some unusual noise and a tilting for the aircraft,” Coconut Development Board chairman and Kerala cadre IAS officer T K Jose who was on board the flight told Deccan Chronicle. “However, the pilots landed the aircraft safely at the airport.”
