Mahankali police nab owner of tiffin centre for killing worker
Hyderabad: Mahankali police on Tuesday arrested the owner of a tiffin centre who had allegedly stabbed one of his workers to death in broad daylight opposite CMR shopping mall at Patny, Secunderabad, on Monday.
Police said the accused B. Saikumar, 38, a resident of Kalasiguda, in Secunderabad, runs a tiffin centre on a pushcart near Swapnalok while the deceased, Ratnam, 33, was his help.
On Monday afternoon, Saikumar and Ratnam went to Nallakunta to consume liquor. They hired an autorickshaw and when they returned, Saikumar asked Ratnam to get down.
“When Ratnam refused, an argument ensued. Ratnam threatened that he got a supari of Rs 1 lakh to eliminate Saikumar. Saikumar pushed Ratnam aside, rushed home and returned in an autorickshaw with a knife. He slit Ratnam’s throat and stabbed him in the chest before fleeing,” North Zone DCP N. Prakash Reddy said.
Ratnam suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Police verified the CCTV recordings in the surroundings and collected clues.
“Based on a single clue, we investigated the case and traced the accused to his residence,” added the DCP. The accused was sent to judicial remand. The case is being investigated.
