OnePlus unveils two variants of the OnePlus 2, prices and availability revealed

Streaming from Hong Kong, OnePlus finally launched the ‘flagship killer’ smartphone, the world has been waiting for. The second high-end smartphone from the stables at OnePlus, the Chinese tech startup brings in the second flagship handset, terming it as the 2016 Flagship Killer.

OnePlus presented the entire event of the OnePlus 2 launch in virtual reality. The 360-degree video was pre-recorded in their office and streamed across the world via the OnePlus VR app. Though the experience was unique, it did give us a headache—watching the stereo 360-degree 3D video with the cardboard is no fun. The launch video was recorded in virtual reality mode and shot in the OnePlus headquarters.

OnePlus 2, the next flagship smartphone from OnePlus sports a 5.5-inch full HD display and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 16GB or 64GB of onboard storage, a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The OnePlus 2 will also sport a USB Type-C port with a reversible USB cable, a fingerprint sensor, an Alert Slider, and StyleSwap Covers. Additionally, the smartphone will feature Android-based OxygenOS operating system, accommodate dual 4G SIM cards and will be fuelled by a 3300mAh battery. OnePlus 2 will be available with StyleSwap Covers, featuring Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood, and Kevlar designs. The smartphone also does not carry any logos or tacky materials on the front panel, but is built with a premium steel frame and subdue colours.

OnePlus has mentioned that the device will start selling in the US, Canada, India, EU, and China on August 11. The OnePlus 2 16GB variant will be sold for USD 329 (Approx Rs 22,999), while the 64GB version will retail at USD 389 (approx Rs 24,999). The 16GB OnePlus 2 will sport only 3GB of LPPDR4 RAM will be available later this year, while the 64GB variant will start selling from August 11.
