Kerala Cricket Association sends letter to BCCI, Sreesanth visits stadium
Kochi: There is some good news should the BCCI choose to lift the ban on S. Sreesanth and that is despite being sidelined for over two years the speedster hasn’t dropped his pushy attitude that often came good for India in the past during tours.
On the third day after he was discharged from IPL spot-fixing cases, and despite the life-ban imposed in 2013, still intact, Sreesanth walked into the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, the only ODI-venue in the state, to prove he’s itching to return.
The 32-year-old refrained from bowling at the nets, but he met Kerala Cricket Association president and BCCI vice president T C Mathew and also posed for pictures on the ground. The Greater Cochin Development Authority, a state government body that owns the stadium had given him permission to enter the venue.
“It is our stadium and we welcome Sreesanth to use it for his training purpose,” said GCDA chairman N. Venugopal.
“We have no connection with BCCI and our link with KCA is only about hosting matches so their ban doesn’t apply to us,” said Mr. Venugopal.
The KCA said it has e-mailed the BCCI asking to lift the ban. “We discussed with our lawyers and have sent a letter to the BCCI requesting the ban on Sreesanth to be lifted. We hope to get a positive reply soon,” said T C Mathew. Sreesanth later visited the Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan, a centre for homeless children, in Palluruthy near Kochi.
