Spark in electrical panel in Mumbai's Taj Hotel
Mumbai: A spark occurred during a routine maintenance work at the iconic Taj Hotel here today causing some smoke, which was controlled immediately by the workers by disconnecting the power supply with help from BEST.
However, Fire Brigade was called in as a precautionary measure but there was no fire as such, a Taj spokesperson said.
"There was no fire as such. There was maintenance work which was going which led to a bit of smoke," the spokesperson said in a statement.
"BEST (state-run power utility) technicians, while undertaking routine maintenance work on the BEST electrical panel, noticed some sparking, which resulted in smoke."
"Since the electrical panel is located in the premises of the hotel, the hotel team assisted them in controlling the smoke and disconnecting the supply. The Fire Brigade was called in as a precautionary measure. The situation is back to normal with no material damage or harm to any employee or guest," the spokesperson added.
