Kerala aims at becoming first digital state in country
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala, which recently launched the Digital Kerala Initiative, is aiming to become the first digital state in the country. An announcement in this regard is likely by August 15.
Chief Minister Mr. Oommen Chandy, while kicking off the silver jubilee celebrations of Technopark here on Monday, said that it would be a major leap for the state's IT sector by becoming the first digital state in the nation.
IT Minister P K Kunhalikutty, who was also present on the occasion, said that various parameters for becoming the first digital state were being achieved by the state.
“We hope to make the announcement by August 15,” he said. The Chief Minister said that Technopark’s success would be highlighted as a model for a pro-investor scenario in the state.
“Despite being a late entrant on the IT bandwagon, Kerala managed to make many major leaps in the sector. The impressive response to the entrepreneurship programme from youngsters is much beyond our expectations. Not only in IT, but in other sectors like agriculture, young entrepreneurs are coming up with projects,” he said.
The Chief Minister also launched a new logo of Technopark on the occasion. IT principal secretary P H Kurian, Technopark chief executive officer K G Girish Babu and Kazhakoottam MLA M A Vaheed were also present.
