Dr Kalam was a 'karma yogi': Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik
Bhubaneswar: Terming A P J Abdul Kalam as a 'karma yogi', Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said the former President lived his entire life for the country.
Condoling the demise of Kalam, Patnaik in a statement said, "I am deeply shocked at the sad demise of former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. He was one of the most illustrious presidents of the country, who was a visionary leader and a gifted scientist." "He was instrumental in strengthening the country's defence capabilities."
"Throughout his life, he lived only for the country. More than this, he was one of the finest human beings of our times. He inspired and guided millions of children to follow their dreams and explore their inherent talent. He has also written several inspiring books for the children," Patnaik said.
Stating that Kalam had a special relationship with Odisha and Biju 'babu, Patnaik said, "He had visited our state several times as a scientist, as President and even after his presidency. He was always in the heart of the people of Odisha. He was a people's president and a karma yogi in its truest meaning." "In his death, India has lost one of its noblest sons. May his soul rest in peace," the Chief Minister said.
Odisha Governor S C Jamir and many others in Odisha condoled the demise of Dr Kalam.
