Administration to be revamped

Mr Naidu is likely to make some changes in his office as well
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who returned to the Secretariat on Monday after a gap of about two weeks, has begun the exercise of toning up the administration.
Mr Naidu is likely to make some changes in his office as well; he reshuffled a few IAS officers on his first day back at work in the city. Municipal administration and urban development secretary A. Giridhar, who was on long leave, was posted as secretary, APPSC.
Mr Giridhar had gone on leave over some differences with minister P. Narayana and some officials in the Chief Minister’s Office. Before going on leave, Mr Giridhar told Mr Naidu and the chief secretary that he was not interested in continuing in the post and asked for transfer to any other department.
According to sources, joint secretary in the CMO Pradyumna also wants to leave. Sources said he is also not happy with some officials working in the CMO.
In IAS officer circle, discussions are on who will replace Mr Giridhar. The municipal administration department is in the focus in view of the construction of the new capital city, Amaravati.
According to some officers, principal secretary in the CMO Satish Chandra, a confidant of the CM, will be posted as special chief secretary in the municipal administration and urban development department. Principal secretary to the finance department P.V. Ramesh will be posted in the CMO in his place.
However, another top official said Mr Naidu will continue with Mr Satish Chandra in his office. Sources said that the CM was searching for a ‘suitable’ IAS officer for the municipal administration department.
The name of medical and health department special chief secretary, L.V. Subrahmanyam is also under consideration for the municipal administration department. But some officials said Mr Subrahmanyam may not be posted because he is a straight forward officer like Mr Giridhar.
Mr Naidu is focusing on the industries department as he tries to bring various companies to set up base in the state.
IAS officer Rajamouli working in Uttar Pradesh has been allotted to AP and he may be posted in the CMO in place of Pradyumna. Sources in the CMO said the CM will shift East Godavari collector, the Rajamahendravaram sub-collector and superintendent of police. Mr Naidu was unhappy with these officers after the stampede at the Pushkar ghat on July 14 where 27 people died.
The government on Monday issued orders giving full additional charge as commissioner civil supplies to R. Karikal Valavan. Ms P.S. Girisha is posted as sub-collector of Gudur in Nellore district. IRS officer Ch Venkata Gopinath, who is waiting for a posting, has been appointed vice chairman and managing director of AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation in the existing vacancy.
