Hyderabad: After Mr Shashi Tharoor, another senior Congress-man, the party’s deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, Dr Karan Singh, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign.
Dr Singh also said that concepts like globalisation and protecting the environment are being adopted worldwide now, but these had been suggested in the Vedas thousands of years of ago.
Dr Karan Singh was addressing graduating students at the convocation of the BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus, on Sunday. Speaking about pillars of learning enshrined in a Unesco panel report on education, he stressed on the need for cleanliness and punctuality.
“I like the Swachh Bharat campaign. We need it in India. It is a good idea. We need the culture of cleanliness. There is so much kachra (garbage) here. It is not like this abroad,” the senior Congress leader said.
