Stir over denial of special status

The Samiti has decided to fight for special status for the state
Anantapur: 'Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti' has objected to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of an election package of Rs 50,000 crore to Bihar, but ignoring the pending special status for AP as part of the post bifurcation process. The Samiti has decided to fight for special status for the state and conducted 'employees' oath session' extending support on Sunday.
MLC and Aituc state unit president P.J. Chandrasekhar observed the BJP-led NDA government was grossly ignoring the special status issue which was pending since one- and-a-half years.
“The PM has not yet responded to a series of representations and agitations by the people of AP. How can he announce a special package of Rs 50,000 crore to Bihar?” he questioned.
The Samiti strongly believed in mounting pressure on the Centre and also state government over its futile efforts in getting special status and also special packages to Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions. State unit convener D. Jagadish announced a bus yatra across the state to bring awareness among the people from August 1 to 10.
Bus yatra would cover all districts of residuary state and further step up the stir till their demand is fulfilled said Mr Jagadish. State bandh call would be given on August 11 and protests would intensify if the special status is not announced in the present Parliament sessions.
Meanwhile, former minister D.L. Ravindra Reddy from Kadapa district criticised CM Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring Rayalaseema region and giving priority to coastal areas. Not even a single project was sanctioned to the backward region ever since TD came to power.
He stressed the need for serious agitation to get justice to the people of the region. Mr Reddy also accused Congress for the entire episode.
