THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a relief to many awaiting posting in the police department, home minister Ramesh Chennithala directed the home department to take immediate action to fill all existing vacancies and expedite the promotion processes.
At present, eight posts of IG, six of DIG, eight of SP and 21 of DySP are lying vacant. The delay in filling these posts and promotions is affecting recruitment of those on the PSC rank lists. Hence, the fresh directive.
Chennithala also directed the department to convene the suspension review committees in time so that those who are placed under suspension for minor charges could be reinstated.
Steps to speed up cases against police personnel pending in courts should be also taken, the home minister directed.
