AP used technology to plan Godavari Maha Pushkaralu

“Over 25,000 police personnel worked round the clock for at least 16 days” Mr Sawang said
Vijayawada: Additional DGP D. Gautam Sawang, who played a key role in organising the Godavari Maha Pushkaralu, said that apart from planning and using the latest technology, what helped the administration conduct the event smoothly was CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership.
Mr Sawang told this newspaper that there were many lessons to be learnt from the Godavari Pushkaralu that could be implemented for the Krishna Pushkaralu to be held in Vijayawada next year.
“Over 25,000 police personnel worked round the clock for at least 16 days, sustaining the same level of engagement. Coordination played a key role where we had to manage everyone, from ground level-staff to top-level officers. We succeeded in keeping everyone in tandem,” Mr Sawang said.
“Technology like CCTV cameras, drones, various special grid and channel communication systems helped us take stock of the situations at the ghats and traffic issues. Three video analytics, which could prepare data from what it captured, were used and observers were given tablets,” he added.
“Above all, leadership matters. It was Mr Naidu who kept all the officials on their toes by staying in town throughout,” said Mr Sawang.
“He used to go for surprise checks after dinner at 11 pm. One day he went to sleep at 5.30 am and woke at 8 am. He was very engaged,” he added.
“I am sure that next year, for the Krishna Pushkaralu, we can do a good job since we learnt a during the Godavari Maha Pushkaralu like dealing with lighting, sanitation, garbage dumping, food supply etc.,” he said.
