Anna Hazare joins OROP strike in Delhi
He assured the defence personnel he will do whatever was possible in getting their due
New Delhi: On a day when the nation marked the anniversary of the end of the 1999 Kargil conflict and paid tributes to the sacrifices of the martyrs of the armed forces, social activist Anna Hazare on Sunday accused the NDA government of not fulfilling even a “single promise”, including implementation of one rank one pension (OROP) scheme for ex-servicemen, and assured the retired defence personnel that he will do whatever was possible in getting their due.
Mr Hazare, a former soldier himself, on Sunday joined the protests by ex-servicemen over delay in implementation of OROP, and said he would travel across the nation to “awaken” people on the issue which would culminate into a protest at the Ramlila Maidan.
