Au revoir, gorgeous! It’s that time of the year when everyone wants to look their glamourous best – off stage or on the runway! There’s complete fashion frenzy behind the scenes at the 13th edition of the Bangalore Fashion Week. We took a peek backstage and saw a blend of excitement, revelry and fun. Make up and hair artist Robert Naorem leading with his team and the team of Jean Claude Biguine are taking the style quotient a notch higher this season of BFW, as they work on 28 female models, six male models and all the fashion designers.
There’s sheer madness backstage; models getting ready, make up artistes are at work, styling the locks, choreographers flipping out and designers giving the final touches. The models were in a complete frenzy when we dropped by, yet while they were getting dolled up, they were seen taking selfies and sipping on their coffee. While the hair stylists were at work and make up sessions went on, models didn’t stop short of clicking quick photographs from their swanky cell phones, with a pout, et al.
In the midst of all the paraphernalia, Robert Naorem reveals, “It’s a chaos with back to back change of hairstyles and innovative make up looks for each of the designers. I’ve done lots of braided designs and lots of tied up hair and updos this season. I have tried to stay away from the smoky look this time. There is also lots of colours and neon eye liners in terms of make up. A clean fresh look is in right now. I’ve tried to keep everything minimalist and this kind of look can be implemented even for a normal daily use. Needless to say, I’ve tried to accentuate the features of the models and highlight the best. I’ve worked on nude shades for the lips and wine and burgundy shades. For hair, I’ve kept textured hair and clean back with variations of braided hairstyles keeping the look classic and Indo- western.” Patric Bezza, style director, JCB, is also making sure there’s enough hauteness at the Bangalore Fashion Week. He’s on a roll as he works on the fashion designers at the made in biguine spot. He states, “Style and colour go hand in hand. The return of short hairstyles is in vogue for a chic, elegant and feminine look. Also, for designers with longer hair, we’ve given a dynamic and rebellious style.”
