After Salman, Neha Dhupia goes on to explain 'good governance' tweet
The actress says that she never meant to 'demean or personally attack anyone'
Mumbai: A day after BJP workers held a protest against Neha Dhupia for her tweet about good governance, the actress has issued a statement. In her note the actress went on to explain that her tweet was the ‘mere frustration of a helpless citizen’. She also said that her comments were about ‘a subject and not a person’ and thanked the Mumbai Police for protecting her.
Neha’s note read:
The intention of my tweet was never to demean or personally attack anyone. It was the mere frustration of a helpless citizen of Mumbai. I've tried to take the high road on the outcome and ignore the people who've abused me and my family and nauseam online. But I felt intimidated as protestors stood outside my house.
I am grateful to our police for protecting us and request people to see that my words were about a subject and not a person. My goal was never to hurt anyone's sentiments. I have wholeheartedly and consistently supported the government's movements like" Yoga Day "and "Swachh Bharat "as I will do in the future as well. I hope we can focus on the issues that matter and that my appeal to improve our civic amenities is taken in the right way.
The actress recently shared some words of advice for good governance after getting fed up with the traffic in Mumbai that happened due to water logging. The actress tweeted "One rain and the city comes to a standstill. Good governance is not about selfies and making us do yoga, it's making sure your citizens are safe."
Another Bollywood actress Richa Chadha recently said that Modi's ‘selfie initiative’ was sweet, but "Women's problems cannot be solved by selfie." Following the actress' tweet, several Twitter users trolled the actress for expressing her views.
