Religious tourism on top at Travel and Tourism Fair
AP is promoting its beaches, islands and the untouched backwaters of Konaseema
Hyderabad: While AP is promoting its beaches, islands and the untouched backwaters of Konaseema, Telangana is focusing on its cultural and festive charm (Bonalu) so far unknown outside the state. Religious tourism featured prominently in the exhibits of both the states at the 13th Edition of the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) that started here on Friday.
Speaking at the inauguration of TTF, AP tourism department officer on special duty V. Madhusudan said that tourists are beginning to explore the beaches and pristine backwaters of Konaseema. “Investors are lining up with projects at Konaseema backwaters and there is tremendous opportunity for investors at these destinations. We are also working out special packages with airlines for tours to these destinations,” the official said.
Telangana is promoting the Ramayana circuit showcasing all destinations within the state associated with Lord Rama and Sita. Places like Bhadrachalam temple, the forests of Adilabad, Jeedikal in Warangal, Jataprolu in Mahbubnagar and Ramagiri Hills in Karimnagar (landmarks where Lord Rama is known to have spent time) are part of the circuit.
Sri Lanka showcased its Ramayana trail and other destinations to woo Indians. It showcased 44 tourist locations and has already seen a jump of 16 per cent in Indian tourists who account for the highest number of tourists.
