Chiranjeevi asks Rahul Gandhi to fight for special tag
Anantapur: During his Bharosa Yatra in the Puttaparthi Assembly constituency on Friday, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi interacted with the kin of 47 farmers who had committed suicide in the area recently and distributed Rs 50,000 to each family at Mamidimakulakunta Palli.
Accompanied by AICC leaders Mr Digvijay Singh, Mr T. Subbarami Reddy, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, APCC president Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy and several other Congress leaders, Mr Gandhi arrived at O.D. Cheruvu by road from the Bengaluru International Airport. Police, meanwhile, arrested members of Chandradandu, youths of the TD, who had tried to stage a protest blaming Mr Gandhi for the state’s division.
Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi appealed to Mr Gandhi to fight for special status for Andhra Pradesh and also redress farmers’ woes.
