MS Dhoni ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Maria Sharapova as most marketable sports star
Mumbai: Even off the pitch, Team India’s ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is creating waves. ‘Captain Cool’ has made it to the top 10 in the list of the most marketable sportsperson of the year 2015.
In a report in the ‘dna’, a list released by the London School of Marketing says Dhoni is the ninth-most marketable sportsperson in the world. In fact, India's most successful cricket captain trumps likes of world famous sporting personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kobe Bryant, Maria Sharapova, Usian Bolt, Neymar and Andy Murray.

Swiss tennis champ Roger Federer has been named the world's most marketable athlete, edging out Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and LeBron James.
Dhoni has also surpassed the likes of Wimbledon 2015 champion Novak Djokovic and Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar in the latest list of world's 100 richest sportspersons, released by the Forbes magazine earlier this year.
According to the list, Dhoni is ranked 31st, Djokovic (62nd), Bolt (63rd) and Tendulkar (78th). Dhoni's earnings through endorsements far exceeds the world's most popular footballer Lionel Messi.
