New Delhi: Within 24 hours of being reprimanded by party president Sonia Gandhi, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor got praise and support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who on Thursday hailed his debating skills.
This sent ripples within political circles, particularly at a time when the BJP and the Congress are at loggerheads. “The Oxford debate has a huge significance. It is good Shashiji was there... What he spoke there reflected the sentiments of the citizens of India,” the Prime Minister said as he inaugurated the Speaker’s Research Initiative for Parliamentarians at the Parliament House complex.
