CPM accuses congress of enrolling migrant workers in electoral rolls
KOCHI: Persons from other states working as migrant labourers have been enrolled in the electoral rolls being prepared for the ensuing elections to the Kochi Corporation, according to CK Manishankar secretary of the CPM Kochi Corporation Committee.
Those whose names were in the electoral rolls of other states were included in the list in some booths, he said. “The Election Commission should intervene in the matter urgently”, he added.
The Congress-led UDF administration in the Corporation was engaging in such malpractices with the connivance of officials, he alleged on Thursday.
The UDF leadership has launched a systematic campaign to subvert the coming elections, he said. A woman official, known as an active worker of a pro-Congress services organisation, has been appointed as the electoral officer of the corporation.
All works connected with the preparation of electoral rolls had been entrusted with officials having close links with the service organisation of the Congress, he added.
The norm of limiting the number of voters in a polling booth to 1,500 voters had been flouted in several booths in which the LDF had an upper hand, he claimed.
