Two Bollywood divas, Tabu and Priyanka Chopra, are playing cops in their upcoming films. And the verdict is out. In Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam, Tabu, easily beats Priyanka’s cop act in Prakash Jha’s Ganga Jal 2.
Says a leading director, “Tabu seems far more convincing than Priyanka. Tabu looks intimidating in her khaki uniform. I wouldn’t be intimidated by Priyanka if she stopped me for breaking a red light.”
Drishyam director Nishikant Kamat is busy with the post-production and he is delighted with the recognition his heroine is getting. “I am not aware of all these comparisons between the two female cops. But I think there is room for two beautiful cops in our movies. I can only speak about the cop in my film. Tabu is not only a beautiful lady but also a fantastic actress.”
In the past, female cop acts have been stellar successes in films. Rekha in K.C. Bokadia’s Phool Bane Angaaray, Dimple Kapadia in Zakhmi Aurat, Vijayshanthi in Tejaswini and Hema Malini in Andha Kanoon, all had donned khaki in the past with spectacular results.
Tabu is all set to join the gallery of screen divas and she seems to have stolen a lot of Priyanka Chopra’s thunder along the way.
