MBBS/BDS phase 2 counselling begins

About 2,600 candidates were called for the counselling

Chennai: The second phase of MBBS/BDS counselling began at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital at Omandurar Estate on Wednesday. About 2,600 candidates were called for the counselling, which took place over three sessions. In the first session only a single seat was taken.

The total number of seats included seven in Government MBBS colleges, 109 in self financing MBBS colleges, 25 Govt BDS colleges and 912 self financing BDS colleges. Four seats were allotted to the government MBBS colleges while three are still remaining.

Self financing MBBS colleges were allotted 52 seats while, government dental colleges were allotted 15 seats. Self financing BDS were allotted nine seats. “May be tomorrow some of the students will take up the self financing dental colleges or the other dental colleges”, said, Dr Usha Sadasivam, secretary, DME.

“I came all the way from Pudukottai and I am happy that I got my choice of college - Sree Mookambika Institute of Medical Sciences,” Vignesh Waran (17), one of the candidates present at the counseling, said.
