Software to check loan frauds
Helps banks to verify whether there is any loan in farmer’s name
Nellore: A new software developed by the AP Chief Commissioner of Land Administration going to put an end to the common practice of a section of farmers to borrow crop loans for single piece of land from different banks.
It is very difficult for the bankers to check whether the applicant for crop loan borrowed from any other bank. Most of those borrowing from multiple banks hardly bother about repayment contributing to the rise of the percentage of banks non performing assets (NPA). .
The 'Loan charge software’ website will contain details of the lending bank and the land on which loans borrowed by the farmers. Banks have been told to check the website before sanction of crop loan to verify whether there is any existing loan in the name of farmer.
According to Nellore joi-nt collector Mr A.Md. Imtiaz, the bankers should up-load the details of the survey number, extent of land pertaining to the crop loa-ns they sanctioned soon after releasing the funds to prevent the farmer obtain loan from any other bank.
There are instances where farmers try to borrow loan on the same survey number with a different name and the details of survey number available in the website will help bankers to deny the loan.
Bankers are being trained to make use of the software and crop loan records of all banks from May this year are being uploaded to the website. Mr Imtiaz said that land records of entire state have been updated in the website meebhoomi.ap. gov.in and this will also help bankers to cross the check the patta passbook details in view of fake passbooks in circulation.
Updating the land records and loan charge software would put an end to frauds pertaining to crop loans involving farmers, revenue staff and sometimes field officers of the banks, the joint collector said.
With respect to loan charge software, loan records of 6 lakh farmers across the state have been uploaded in the website already and the process is in progress.
