Congress liquor scam uncorked

It’s now scam versus scam in national politics
New Delhi: It’s now scam versus scam in national politics. Centre, put on the mat over a series of controversies and scams, is trying to hit back Congress scams and controversies.
Minister of state for commerce Nirmala Sitharaman was fielded by the party to reveal a liquor scam allegedly by the Congress-led Harish Rawat government in Uttarakhand. The Rawat government promptly suspended the CM’s close aide Mohammad Shahid, who was shown seeking a commission in a “sting operation carried by an NGO”.
The BJP also seized on the conviction of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister P.K. Thungan in a case of corruption and sought to question Congress’ credentials to raise the issue of corruption and stall Parliament.
Accusing the Uttarakhand CM of “making money” by tweaking its liquor policy to benefit private distributors, the BJP demanded his dismissal. Mr Rawat, however, rejected the allegations as “baseless” and far from the truth.
