Yakub Memon be to hanged, Supreme Court rejects mercy plea
New Delhi/Mumbai: The stage is set for the hanging of Yakub Memon for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts with the Supreme Court on Tuesday declining to entertain a curative petition questioning the order upholding the death sentence given to him and seeking a stay of execution.
Yakub Memon, in his curative petition, sought a direction for commutation of his death sentence into life sentence as certain arguments were not considered by the court and there was an error apparent in the original judgement and the order rejecting his review plea.
