Sanitation, other workers of civic body have gone on a strike 2 weeks ago

VIJAYAWADA: With the sanitation works in the city being hit by the workers’ strike, Vijayawada Mayor Koneru Sridhar has urged the workers of Swatch Bharat, students, NCC and NSS cadets to help the civic body in overcoming the crisis.
Addressing the students and workers at the Mayor’s chamber here on Tuesday, Mr Sridhar requested all the youths, students and social workers to assist the corporation in maintaining sanitation in the city as all the 3,000 municipal workers had gone on an indefinite strike for the last two weeks.
Further, he requested all the residents in the city to dispose waste generated in their house on theiw own at the dumper bins near their places to check the spread of seasonal diseases. On the leaders of the workers’ union attacking other workers who were attending duties, he requested them not to obstruct the workers from discharging duties and said strict action would be taken if they continued do so.
