Bengaluru: Pavement parker abuses and nearly assaults citizen activist
Bengaluru: Tell a car owner he cannot park on a footpath and you not only get a tongue lashing, a torrent of verbal abuse and a near assault, you also get the question that the rich and the entitled throw at anyone who dares to challenge him - “Do you know who I am ?”.
In this case, it was Sunil B. Patil, a self-proclaimed MLC. Mr. T.V. Mohandas Pai, one of the city's most well known citizen activists and a founder member of Bangalore Political Action Committee was at the receiving end when he went up to the man in the BMW and demanded he remove his car from the pavement on Ali Askar Road.
This was on Tuesday at around 10:15 a.m. The driver flashed a red MLC plate board and nearly charged at him! Mr. Pai, tweeted a picture of the car to Bangalore City Traffic Police and then wisely, walked away.
Based on the complaint on twitter, traffic police “raised a violation”, traced the car owner and the car to an address in R.T. Nagar, and as M.A. Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) told DC: “A challan will be sent to him for footpath parking.”
