Actor has now returned to the super-successful, sex comedy Masti franchise

It was just last year that Riteish Deshmukh had said that he would not be acting in sex comedies anymore. He had two reasons for not wishing to do adult comedies: One, it made him uncomfortable. And two, such roles didn’t excite him.
However, he has now returned to the super-successful, sex comedy Masti franchise, and recently started shooting for Great Grand Masti. “I want to explore all genres possible,” he said, when we quizzed him about the volte-face. “ Last year, I had done a mad comedy, Humshakals, which didn’t work. The next week I had Ek Villain where I played a negative role, the week after that I had Lai Bhaari, my Marathi film, which was a larger-than-life, heroic character. Now after a year, I have the satirical and thought-provoking Bangistan. Yes, the Masti franchise has adult humour, but humour keeps evolving with time; what may be shocking for people five years ago isn’t the same today. The writing has changed and so has people’s perception of comedy.”
