TRS bent on stalling Parliament

Party to raise Palamuru lift irrigation scheme, Begumpet airport plan
Hyderabad: The TRS has decided to stall the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning on Tuesday seeking immediate setting up of a separate High Court for Telangana. The party has also decided to raise the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation Scheme, the proposed handing over of the Begumpet airport to the defence ministry and other state-related issues including those pertaining to AP Reorganisation Act. The TRS plans to grill the Modi government on its alleged discrimination against Telangana in various matters including special incentives, allocation of funds to the Pushkaralu and other sops as compared to AP.
Speaking after an all-party meeting in New Delhi convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TRS general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Dr K. Keshava Rao and TRS Lok Sabha leader A.P. Jitender Reddy said the High Court was a priority issue of the Telangana government and this was also brought to the notice of the Centre. “We told the meeting that there are lots of issues other than land acquisition, other government Bills, Lalitgate and Vyapam which should be given equal priority. For the new state, a separate HC is a must. Though the Union home minister, the law minister and others admitted that Telangana should have a separate HC, no action is being taken,” Dr Rao said. The Centre, he said, promised to sort out pending issues in the AP Reorganisation Act, but nothing concrete has been done. “We will move an adjournment motion on the HC issue and take up other pending issues pertaining to TS. How can there be a state without a HC?” he asked.
“The Palamuru lift irrigation scheme is an approved one. We will take up the issue with water resources minister Uma Bharati. Besides, the Begumpet airport was constructed by the Nizam and the state will not part with it,” Mr Jitender Reddy added.
Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been adopting a friendly posture with the Modi government and had taken up Central programmes like Swachh Bharat and skill development in a big way in fond hope that the Centre would help it out but in vain. An upset CM called a meeting of party MPs the other day and asked them to go all out against the Centre for discrimination vis-a-vis Andhra Pradesh ruled by Telugu Desam, ally of BJP and NDA government.
