AIADMK MP had thundered that he would not hesitate to cut off the tongue of the critics of Amma
Namakkal: The ruling AIADMK's Namakkal MP, P.R. Sundaram's tongue-in-cheek remarks that he could cut off the tongues of those who speak about the health condition of the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has triggered a political row.
At a public meeting to highlight the achievements of the four-year AIADMK regime near the Rasipuram bus stand on Saturday, the AIADMK MP had thundered that he would not hesitate to cut off the tongue of the critics of Amma.
“I am exercising restraint because I am an MP. But if anyone speaks about the health condition of Amma, I will not hesitate to cut off their tongue, “he said. Condemning the MP's remarks, the DMK's district youth wing organiser K.R.N. Rajeshkumar and Rasipuram town secretary N.R. Sankar lodged a complaint with Rasipuram police demanding action against the Namakkal MP.”If the police fail to take action, we will decide on the next course of action after consulting the district secretary,” DMK town secretary Sankar said. The AIADMK MP had not spared any Opposition leader at the public meeting. He said the Centre can pass the Land Acquisition Bill only if CM Jayalalithaa gives the nod. Training his guns on the PMK leader Anbumani Ramadas, he said the PMK held a conference in Coimbatore and demanded the closure of all TASMAC shops in Tamil Nadu. But on the day of the conference in Coimbatore, the TASMAC liquor sales soared to Rs. 1 crore, he said.
The State Congress president E.V.K.S. Elangovan and DMDK chief Vijaykant had asked the AIADMK chief to retire from politics. “We do not ask any Opposition leaders to retire..... But if anyone talks about Amma's health, I will not hesitate to cut their tongue,” the AIADMK MP said.
