Chennai: Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa on Monday inaugurated a new foodgrain market at the Koyambedu wholesale market premises, through video conferencing.
The facility will be operational from Tuesday. “Of the 492 shops, almost all the shops have been allotted to the wholesale foodgrain traders, and within a month all wholesale and retail traders at the old Parrys market will be moved to the new market” said a CMDA senior official.
The new market is located behind the Koyambedu Market Management Committee (MMC) building. Welcoming the opening of the new facility, V.R.Soundararajan, trader and MMC member, said it would save time for the public and small vendors.
