Chennai: Wife files fresh complaint against cop

She said that no FIR had been registered against her husband based on her earlier complaints
Chennai: Meghna Kumar, wife of IPS officer Santhosh Kumar, deputy commissioner, headquarters, Chennai, who had already lodged a complaint against her husband of cruelty and dowry harassment, again went to the state police headquarters on Monday seeking action on her petition.
Speaking to reporters after she met ADGP (L&O) T. K. Rajendran, Meghna said that her husband had been demanding more dowry, particularly gold and money and was trying to take away their nine-year-old son who lives with her. Both got married in 2004.
In her complaint, she said she was forced to leave her husband on June 11, 2015, and he never paid her any maintenance. She claimed that she had to take up part-time jobs in various colleges in order to support herself and her son.
She said that no FIR had been registered against her husband based on her earlier complaints. In her fresh complaint Meghna alleged that her husband was a corrupt officer who had links with many business groups and granite mafia which he cultivated while serving as SP in other districts. “My son could never get fatherly love and affection from my husband. My husband was solely obsessed with money and materialistic possessions and we never figured in his list of priorities. My husband didn’t even shirk from charging '500-600 every month required for the upkeep of abandoned dog I rescued in Chennai,” she said.
“All this while my husband has also launched a vitiated campaign against me that he being an honest officer he was in no position to fulfill my demands for a luxurious life and that I am not mentally stable. The man who accuses me of being spoilt has a taste for rare and expensive liquors.” I genuinely expect that an FIR be registered and the case be probed by CBCID” she said.
When contacted by this newspaper Santhosh Kumar denied all the allegations and said that he would face his wife in court.
