This brand new medical solution to the double chin will make you the selfie queen in no time
A few years ago, studies revealed that Hollywood star Michelle Williams was one of those who had the ‘perfect’ face. With a chin that was proportionate to the length of her nose — Williams’s face was the artistic ideal. However, most of us are not blessed with the actress’s sharp looks and find ourselves cringing when we switch on the front camera of our phones for a selfie. The reason behind this is the double chin — something that does not vanish even if you perform facial exercises purported to tighten the area under the chin.
Recently, the Food and Drug Administration of USA has approved the injectable drug, Kybella. Used to slim down a double chin without surgery, Kybella is a boon for many patients seeking improvement in an area otherwise considered a real problem.
The active ingredient in it dissolves fat, permitting cosmetic surgeons to sculpt the chin area without surgery. The drug immediately goes to work on your wattle, destroying the cell membrane, causing it to burst and go away permanently. In Indians, double chins are the by-products of obesity, genetics or age. Irrespective of the cause, a double chin affects the sharpness of a face.
Studies reveal that it is not only plump men and women who are in danger of getting one. Thin people too have double chins. Injectable drugs such as Botox and dermal fillers are used to plump or smooth areas on the face, yet the fat around the chin remains. The Kybella, therefore, is an effective treatment for many patients in India who do not want to go under the knife and spend money on a surgical procedure. Suitable for both sexes, the drug has proven to come as a miracle treatment for patients who have under-chin fat.
A recent survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery has found that many people were unhappy with their facial features as they think that the double chin makes them look older than they actually are. With minor side-effects such as bruising, swelling and redness in some patients, Kybella is considered an effective treatment to cut-down the fat below the chin. However, the FDA warns that while the drug may be a success for your neck, it cannot dissolve the fat in other problem areas.
