Vishnu Vishal, the former Ranji cricketer, started his film career with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Today the actor has completed eight films in seven years and is slowly climbing the ladder to success. Vishnu is on a high after the recent hits like Mudasupatti, Jeeva and Indru Netru Naalai. “My original name is Vishal. When I came to the industry, actor Vishal was already there and hence I took the screen name Vishnu. Later I felt that I should also add my original name.”
He calls his debut film director Suseendhran as his Godfather and says that he took acting seriously only after working in Seenu Ramasamy’s Neer Paravai. “Seenu sir has played a significant role in shaping my career. I am once again teaming up with him in Idam Porul Eval (IPE).”
Since Vijay Sethupathi is one of the heroes in Idam…., ask Vishnu if he was apprehensive if the former would be given more importance, he laughs if off. “No way! We are good friends.
Vijay Sethupathi had appeared in a blink-and-miss role in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. After the movie turned out to be a hit, he brought one of his friends to my house to narrate a script for me. So, I knew him from those days and we are share a great bond even before he became a big star. In fact, he has three stunt sequences in IPE whereas I have none.”
