FIR against 3 cops who tortured Congress worker in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: The High Grounds police have registered an FIR against three of its staff, including a sub-inspector, who are under suspension, for allegedly illegally detaining a person and torturing him.
Ramesh, a Congress worker and a resident of Vasanthnagar, has filed a criminal complaint against SI Kiran Kumar, and Constables Raveesh and Tahsildar. Mr Sandeep Patil, DCP (central) had suspended them on Tuesday on charges of illegally detaining and assaulting Mr Ramesh. It is alleged that Mr Ramesh was detained and tortured by the three policemen in connection with a false case filed on July 12. Mr Ramesh’s family members had filed a complaint, alleging that his leg was fractured and he suffered internal injuries after the torture. Following the complaint, Mr Patil had suspended the trio.
Now with Mr Ramesh filing a criminal case, the police have registered the FIR under various sections of the IPC and also under Prevention of Atrocities Act.
