Egala Sai Kiran, has refused Elamanchili MLA P. Ramesh Babu’s offer
Visakhapatnam: The sole survivor of the June 13 van accident at Dhowleswaram, 10-year-old Egala Sai Kiran, has refused Elamanchili MLA P. Ramesh Babu’s offer to give him shelter at his (MLA’s) home. Ramesh Babu had promised to adopt Sai Kiran on the day of the accident in which 22 members of a family from Mosaiahpeta in Vizag district, including Sai Kiran’s parents Egala Rambabu and Egala Kondatalli and his sister E. Sandhya were killed. Sai Kiran is now staying at his aunt U. Devudamma’s house in Mosaiahpeta.
Sometimes Sai Kiran stays at his mother’s sister S. Lakshmi’s house at Veduruwada. Recently Anakapalle MP M. Srinivasa Rao and Elamanchili MLA P. Ramesh Babu presented a cheque for Rs 6 lakh, given by the government as ex gratia to Sai Kiran. And the amount was deposited in Sai Kiran’s bank account.
Sai Kiran says that he lost his parents, sister and his relatives and that he is not in a mood to stay with the MLA’s family in Vizag which is a new place. “I don’t want to leave my friends, relatives and surroundings. I will think and take a decision later,” he added.
Locals of Mosaiahpeta said the boy is yet to fully recover from shock and it is better to stay in his hometown. The locals also said that the MLA Ramesh Babu and his wife is coming to the village to look after the boy. Elamanchili MLA P. Ramesh Babu said that Sai Kiran is not in a frame of mind to come and stay with him and should, for his own good, continue
staying with his relatives for two more years. He said that Sai Kiran can then be shifted to his residence in Vizag and he promised to provide him quality education. He also said that he is currently bearing the expenses of Sai Kiran's education and is visiting him twice every week.
