Singapore to give core capital plan to Andhra Pradesh on Monday

A key phase in the designing of master plans for the new capital of AP is complete
Hyderabad: A key phase in the designing of master plans for the new capital of AP is complete. A delegation from Singapore will hand over the core capital plan for Amaravati to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Rajahmundry on July 20. The construction of Amaravati near Mangalagiri in Guntur district will formally commence from October 22 this year.
The core capital will be built on 15 sq.km, spanning three villages — Uddandarayani-palem, Mandadam and Rayapudi — and can house over 60 lakh people, according to a rough estimate.
The core city will have the Assembly, the Raj Bhavan, the High Court, Secretariat, administrative offices, key
departments, residences of the Chief Minister, ministers, judges, bureaucrats among others.
Mr S. Iswaran, the trade and commerce minister of Singapore, will be heading a delegation of urban planning experts and officials to meet the Chief Minister, according to official sources.
Meanwhile, the state government on Saturday released four graphic illustrations of the proposed core capital area, which give a splendid view of the modern Andhra Pradesh capital city. The illustrations — developed on both sides of the river Krishna — show the BRTS and Metro Rail connectivity to the core capital.
According to official sources, the layout details in the core city plan would provide a broad area and contours of the land required. This would outline various chunks of land that will be part of the core capital. The Singapore team has thus far presented a development plan for the capital region and also a master plan.
