Nagasadhus make do without ganja

Ganja is unavailable due to prohibitory orders
Kakinada: During the Maha Pushkaralu, nagasadhus have been forced to give up ganja since it is unavailable due to prohibitory orders. They are used to having ganja in North India.
Nagasadhus have come for the Maha Pushkaralu in Narasapur in West Godavari district and are staying for the 12-day event. They eat only vegetables with roti and some rice. Some of them eat only fruits. However, they are finding it difficult to get ganja in the Godavari districts. The organisers expressed their inability to supply it as it is illegal.
“They are very fond of having ganja. But we made it clear to them that it was not possible to supply it, “said an organiser. Meanwhile, the organisers are supplying bags of vibhuti which the nagasadhus smear on their body as it is auspicious since it has Lord Shiva’s blessings.
The nagasadhus are blessing pilgrims by standing in the heat and moving in boats in the ghats. Every day, they perform aarati to the Godavari river at Lalitha Ghat in Narasapuram.
