Divide High Court quickly, urges advocates JAC

The Advocates JAC reached the minister’s residence in Banjara Hills

Hyderabad: The TS Advocates Joint Action Committee led by T. Sri Ranga Rao on Saturday met Union parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu with a request to use his good offices at the Centre to take steps for the bifurcation of the High Court and establishment of HCs for TS and AP.
The Advocates JAC reached the minister’s residence in Banjara Hills on Saturday morning and staged a sit-in demanding to fulfillment of the promise made by Union law minister Sadananda Gowda in the Lok Sabha.
However, Mr Venkaiah Naidu told them that he will speak to the law minister and take action. At one stage the advocates threatened to launch protests in Delhi including chalo Parliament to highlight the issue.
They told Mr Venkaiah Naidu that the BJP which promised Telangana in 100 days is now dragging its feet on bifurcating the HC even 400 days after the formation of Telangana.
The delay has led to the continuation of a common judiciary for both AP and Telangana leading to severe heartburn among Telangana people.
Mr Sriranga Rao said the NDA is now silent over bifurcation due to lobbying by the TD government of AP. They reminded Mr Venkaiah that earlier when three new states were formed by the then BJP government, it had provided separate High Courts immediately.
