CM Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Government will rescue you: SM Krishna

He consoled grief-stricken relatives of farmers and offered them an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each

MYSURU: “We are with you” said former external affairs minister S.M. Krishna as he visited the kin of seven farmers who committed suicide in recent days during his second consecutive tour of his home district, Mandya, on Saturday.

Mr Krishna visited the homes of six farmers in KR Pet including, Suresh in Doddakyaathanahalli, Pradeep in Doddathaarahalli, Shankarlinge Gowda in Hirikalale, Chinnaswamy in Kempikoppal, Lokesh in Moodanahalli, Ramakrishna in Aipanahalli, and Santhosh in Ijjalagatta in Nagamangala taluk.

At every house, he consoled grief-stricken relatives of farmers and offered them an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each.

He told the media later that farmers should not lose confidence and take hasty decisions, and expressed confidence that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his cabinet colleagues would visit farmers, understand the problems of farmers, and resolve them at the earliest.

He expressed the hope that the state government would implement recommendations of the committee headed by former vice chancellor of UAS Dr G.K. Veeresh, which was constituted to study the phenomenon of farmers ending their lives when he was the Chief Minister.

Mandya district Congress committee president Mr M. S. Aathmananda, Mallajamma of Ambedkar Abhivrudhdhi nigama, Former legislators of KR pet Constituency, P. T. Chandrashekar, Sureshgowda and others accompanied Mr Krishna during his tour of Mandya district.
