BSP MLA, local councillor roped, held hostage for denying power to UP village
The duo were held hostage for nearly two hours
Chandauli (UP): Distraught over frequent power cuts in their area, frustrated residents of Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli village roped Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Babban Singh Chauhan and a local councillor, and held them hostage for nearly two hours.
Villagers of Ward no. 13 took this unprecedented step as they couldn't see any relief coming their way despite lodging complaints with the local administration.
"There is a severe problem of electricity and water logging," admitted the MLA.
"We are facing severe hardship in daily life. We don't have the facility of electricity, road and water. We were told that a tender of 80lakhs has been passed but we can't see any work happening. We will fight till the end," said a local.
