Bengaluru: Man rents a house to commit murder
Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a tenant took a house on rent allegedly faking his name and credentials to kill a man.
A 34-year-old man’s decomposed body was found in a rented house in Deshabandhu Nagar in Vidyaranyapura police limits on Saturday. The police suspect that the victim was strangled with a wire that was found inside the house.
The victim has been identified as Ashok, a truck loader from Rajagopal Nagar. “As of now, the suspicion is on a man aged between 30 and 40, who had rented the house. He had allegedly committed the crime, locked the house and gone missing,” said a senior police officer.
According to the police, the murder might have taken place three days ago. It came to light on Saturday when the neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from one of the locked houses, owned by Venkatesh. The police arrived and opened the door of the house to find the bloated decomposed body inside. “We suspect that the murder could have happened on July 15 as there was a missing complaint registered by the victim’s family members in Rajagopal Nagar police station on Friday, stating that Ashok was missing from July 15,” said T.R. Suresh, DCP North Division.
“The house owner knew only his name as Sundaram, but he did not have any other information about his tenant,” said an investigating officer. Venkatesh owns 24 such houses in the locality and had given the house on rent to Sundaram on June 27.
