Key elections on Sunday

After the bifurcation of the two Telugu states, it is the first time that elections will be conducted for key posts to the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC). This is also the first time that elections are being held after the name change from AP Film Chamber of Commerce to Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce.

Suresh Babu and Narayana Das of Asian Films are competing for the top post, that of the president. “This time, the president’s post is supposed to go to the exhibitor sector and also in rotation, a person from the Nizam area should be elected,” says a source.

The source added that it may not be possible, as many want a person from AP. “There are certain problems in the new state of Andhra Pradesh and also majority of the exhibitors in the chamber are from there. So they all want Suresh Babu to be the president as he has easy access to AP CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, in case of a problem related to the film industry,” adds the source.

So the toss is between Narayan Das from Nizam or Suresh Babu from AP. “There may be another choice also, but it all depends on the elections. Whoever wins from the exhibitor panel will decide after the elections are over,” says the source. Producer Sudhakar Reddy’s panel is also contesting from the distribution sector. He is confident about his victory. On the other hand, producers T Prasanna Kumar and Natti Kumar are in the fray as rebel candidates.
